Our worship on the 15th Sunday after Pentecost opened with a prayer that asks us to remember that God is the giver of all good things and our nourishment to do what we are called to do in God’s world. Our lesson from the Song of Solomon was part of the poem describing the passion the Lover has for the Beloved and how humans live with this passion. The Psalmist echoed the passion and love present between Lover and Beloved and how we live with love for God’s kingdom. Our Epistle from the letter to James was the basis for our sermon and lays out guidelines for believers and the actions God expects from all believers. James introduces the active nature of a Christian. The gospel from Mark contained a discussion between Jesus and the Pharisees who worshipped ritual over caring relationships. A question for us to consider, what does it mean to live as a Christian? We should realize that our Christian faith is one which builds community, celebrates our differences, and finds God’s presence in all people and things. Our life of faith is something that demands our action to help others recognize God’s presence and love today, tomorrow, and forever. How can you use share the love and grace which carries you forward into real life?
I invite your comments,
