Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost Sermon
August 4, 2024, 3:24 PM

We had a wonderful time in worship on the 11th Sunday after Pentecost offering a prayer to remind ourselves that God is the one that protects God’s church and provides for our safety and protection. Our job it so let God do the work to allow us to reach across our human faults to build community. Our lesson from second Samuel is the judgement against David by God and the demonstration of the bad behavior of God’s people – using others for our own benefit. The Psalmist offered a plea to God to forgive our sins and help us find God’s grace in our lives. Our Epistle from the letter to the Ephesians tells that all the gifts given by God are necessary for a successful community. The gospel from John tells the parable of Jesus declaring that he is the bread of life. Through these scriptures we hear how people can treat each other, well or poorly. Our job as believers is to honor all people as children of God, exactly as they are. Our job continues to be spreading the good news and building a diverse community, founded on shared experiences and shared responsibility. Our life is incomplete when we don’t include all creation in our life’s journey. How are you challenged to break down the barriers our society has erected in relationships with others?

I invite your comments,
